About My Pet Care

Hello, I'm Devin! I started my pet care service with the goal of helping pets and owners who need extra support when planning for trips and juggling life. Whether you have a pet with health issues, an animal most sitters aren't familiar with, or just want to be sure that your baby will be well cared for.

Certified Sitter
The well-being of all pets in my care is my highest priority. I do what I can to keep my skills and knowledge of animal care as up-to-date as possible. To ensure that the care I provide to pets is of the highest quality, I am certified in pet care with the American Red Cross. This certification covers pet first aid, emergency response, and CPR.

I also keep the Red Cross Pet First Aid App on my phone to have most current best practices available to reference in emergencies

Insured Care
I take the safety of the pets under my care very seriously, which is why I have full liability Pet Business Insurance through Pet Sitter Associates. PSA has been protecting pets and owners for almost 30 years. This covers:

  • Pet Injury Protection

  • Medical Care Expenses

  • Property Damage Coverage

  • Lost Key Coverage

Experience
I have held a passion for animal care for decades, and dedicated myself to pet care in 2022. I originally started pet sitting as a side hobby to help out friends and family, but it quickly became clear that there were many pet owners in my community who couldn't find care at the level they needed to feel comfortable leaving their pets. I now have experience with resource guarding, obedience training, trauma management, and complex medical needs, as well as training in animal behavior and exotic pet care. I also have experience with caring for 6+ animals at once, so multi-pet households are welcome!

I pride myself on in-depth communication with owners. Every care service includes detailed updates, and photos whenever possible, so that owners can feel confident that their pets are in safe hands.

Approach
Trips away from home can be hard for both pet and owner. I take a unique approach to pet sitting that allows me to gain a pet's trust quickly and reduce their stress more effectively. I invite owners to share their daily routine with me in as much detail as they're comfortable with, and match that routine as exactly as possible.

I wake up and go to bed when your pet expects it. I feed them, play with them, and cuddle with them the way that they're used to. If you watch tv while doing puzzles after dinner, I'll put on your show in the evening and sit at the puzzle table while I work or read. The less change your pet has to deal with, the less stress they have to overcome.

For highly anxious, fearful, or unruly pets, I utilize my knowledge of animal behavior to communicate in a way your pet understands more naturally. Every aspect of my methods is centered around building trust, communication, and boundaries with the pets I care for.

FAQ

Some common questions about my services

I'm trained and well-equipped to care for dogs, cats, rodents, and non-venomous reptiles of any age, including those with anxiety, medical needs, and behavioral concerns. I also have experience caring for livestock animals like horses and goats!

I can care for a maximum of 7 pets per client, but I may lower that maximum based on the needs of the pet.

Generally, all pets fall under the base price, but cats are the exception! Up to 3 cats will be priced as 1 pet, unless the cat requires special care.

The area provided for me to sleep will also be the area where I keep my clothes, toiletries, and other personal items. If your pet is in the room while I am asleep, I cannot supervise them to ensure that they don't damage my belongings. To compensate for this risk, I charge an extra fee.

Refilling food for outdoor cats is a free part of any care service. If the outdoor cat requires any special care, supervision, or medication, they will be considered an additional pet.
